Change of MD for Brakel Airvent
After celebrating 30 years at the helm of Brakel Airvent, its founder and long-standing managing director Tony Barry has elected to step down, passing responsibility for the operation’s day-to-day running to Charles Hurdman, formerly the company’s director in charge of sales and business development.
“We’re all honoured to have been a part of Tony Barry’s era at this company,” states Charles, now the business’ managing director. “And while 30 years is certainly a great achievement for any business, at Brakel Airvent we want to build something truly enduring.
“Over the years this company has been instrumental in the development and continued growth of the smoke control service and maintenance industry, and has guided major technical and legislative movements along the way. We’re optimistic about the company’s ongoing influence, making the UK’s building occupants safer and providing quality employment for some of the UK’s leading engineers and customer service support staff.”
The appointment is unrelated to the recent acquisition of the Brakel Group, which brings Brakel Airvent into the fold of Kingspan’s Light + Air Division.
