Unlike
Smoke Control Systems, Pressurisation systems rely on the integrity
of the fabric of the building in the working area for their performance
characteristics, and any shortfall in this area can seriously affect
the overall performance, and therefore the level of Life Safety
Protection provided (both for means of escape and for fire fighting
personnel).
For this reason, the Standards and Regulations
applied to pressurisation systems differ from those applied to active
smoke control systems.
For Pressurisation Systems (Stairwell, lobbies,
corridors), Regulations include:
- 1997 Fire Precautions (Workplace) Regulations
- 1999 Fire Precautions (Health and Safety) Regulations
- BRE 368 (1999)
- Fire Safety Act 1987
- BS7346:1990 Part I (for damper sets, de-pressurisation units)
- H & S Reg 6 Para 33 - Mechanical Ventilation Systems
- BS5588:1998 - All parts relating to Pressurisation Systems
- BS5588:1998 Part 4 specific for Pressurisation Systems
- BSRIA Specification 1/75 for Pressurisation Systems
- IHVE Commissioning code A for Pressurisation Systems
- H & S Regulation 6 - Maintenance and Testing
- H & S and IEE Regulations - servicing and high level access
works.
Important
Regulatory Compliance can only be achieved by 'hands on' servicing/cleaning/checking
to all elements of the scheme as listed on the service contract
equipment register. |
