Brakel® Guardian

GUARDIAN Compact, high-power centrifugal fan for car parks

The centrifugal Guardian fan from Brakel Airvent is ideal for underground or enclosed structures, especially car parks. A high-powered, duct-free solution, using Guardian means lower installation, maintenance and running costs.

Its slim profile allows car park designers to overcome issues caused by obtrusive structural beams and low overall ceiling heights without compromising performance.

The fan’s outlet design ensures efficient uni-directional movement of the airflow into the designated area.

Given the high-power nature of the Guardian, it can produce a high-velocity jet which adds momentum to the air in front of the fan, imparting thrust to surrounding air through mixing and entrainment as it diffuses. The volume of air entrained is significantly greater than that passing through the fan.

Materials

The Guardian is independently tested to meet the exacting standards of EN 12101-3:2002, ensuring that in fire situations it can operate for up to two hours in 300°C conditions. Performance is tested to BS848-10:1999 Fans for general purposes. The slim-profile Guardian is supplied with a fitted IP55 terminal box as standard, with an optional IP65 lockable fire rated isolator if required.

Brakel® Smoke Warden

SMOKE WARDEN Discreet smoke ventilation for corridors and stairwells

Brakel Airvent’s Smoke Warden has been designed to offer a ventilation solution for multi-storey residential and commercial buildings which feature stairwells and corridors. Easy, low cost installation and maintenance is the key, with the Smoke Warden’s bottom-hinged system allowing access to wiring and electronics from within the corridor.

The Smoke Warden is an AOV (Automatic Opening Vent) which operates to allow smoke into a building’s smoke shaft, away from escape routes in fire situations.

The Smoke Warden is fire rated and its discreet internal hinge allows it to easily blend into a building’s internal architecture.

Materials

Brakel Airvent’s Smoke Warden is supplied to offer a range of free areas to meet ADB requirements. An easy access panel allows for low cost maintenance and the fire rating comes from the use of a galvanised outer sheet door skin with 100kg/m3 mineral fibre insulation.

The frame is constructed from mild steel with fully welded joints, and the product can be supplied in any standard RAL or BS colour, with smoke seals fitted as standard.

Brakel® Smoke-Guard

SMOKE-GUARD Smoke-Guard

Brakel Airvent’s Smoke-Guard is an innovative smoke and heat-resistant curtain which can be applied either fixed in place or deployed automatically within seconds in a fire emergency. Smoke-Guard compartmentalises hot smoke above head height to delay it from cooling and lowering to ground level, obscuring fire escape routes and causing a hazard to health. The robust, lightweight Smoke-Guard has applications in smoke containment, smoke channelling and smoke sealing, and is rated to 120 minutes at 600°C (both enclosure and fabric).

The fabric is manufactured from X32K woven glass fibre cloth, incorporating ‘Panama’ weave for increased stability, enabling Smoke-Guard to form a continuous barrier against the smoke produced in a fire.

Brakel Airvent has recently installed Smoke-Guard at Lewisham Shopping Centre, Asda at Tory Glen, Bon Accord Shopping Centre, Watford’s Harlequin Shopping Centre, Guildford’s Friary Shopping Centre, Thurrock’s Lakeside Shopping Centre and Bromley’s The Glades Shopping Centre.

Brakel® Fire-Guard

FIRE-GUARD Fire-Guard

Brakel Airvent’s Fire-Guard is an innovative fire, smoke and heat-resistant curtain which can be applied either fixed in place or deployed automatically within seconds in a fire emergency. Fire-Guard blocks the spread of flames (much like a fire door), and also compartmentalises hot smoke above head height to delay it from cooling and lowering to ground level, obscuring fire escape route and causing a hazard to health. The robust, lightweight Fire-Guard has applications in smoke containment, smoke channelling and smoke sealing, and is rated to 60 minutes in a fire situation (both enclosure and fabric). The enclosure features side guide rails to ensure sealing of the edges.

Projects

Brakel Airvent has recently installed Fire-Guard at AMEX – Brighton and also at the King’s Cross Redevelopment in London.
