Smoke & Fire Curtains

Compartmentalisation is an important consideration in all smoke control systems. By preventing smoke entering a particular area, or retarding the spread of flames, the system can create safe escape routes and easier fire fighter access, saving lives and protecting property.

Smoke curtains and fire curtains are heat-resistant hangings that lower from above when activated by a smoke control system, creating divisions and compartments within the fire zone. In some instances, the goal is to prevent too-rapid cooling of smoke, which would cause it to lower below head-height.

Failure to deploy or torn fabric are unacceptable conditions for smoke curtains, and these elements would be assessed by your Brakel Airvent engineer as part of your routine scheduled service package, designed to work around your building’s normal day-to-day operations.
