In April 2004, CRH Plc Daylight & Ventilation Group announced the acquisition of the Airvent Group. CRH Plc commented on the acquisition saying, “The acquisition is an excellent addition to our UK operation and creates good prospects for the continued growth of Airvent, through the technology support and available product range within the Glass & Fire Safety Group”.

Mr Ton Van Gerwen, Managing Director of the Glass & Fire Safety Group said, “We expect interesting synergies in the field of product development and knowledge sharing. The professional backing of the GFS Group should enable Airvent to grow to the next level”.

Brakel Aluminium, a Dutch based manufacturer of smoke ventilation equipment will work closely with Airvent to expand into the UK and European market. Airvent will benefit largely from Brakel’s contacts already established in Europe and together with the impressive database, which Airvent holds within the UK market, this should prove to be an exciting time for the GFS Group.
