Airvent ventilators to the rescue!

I'ts not often that we get to see our ventilators in action in a 'real fire situation'. Last week at the Centro Commercial De Rivas in Madrid a fire broke out in one of the retail shops and this developed into a major blaze at the shopping centre.

The YouTube video link below clearly shows the extensive damage caused by the fire and smoke to the shopping centre.

In 2005 the development was fitted with a system of Safeguard and Spirit automatic smoke ventilators (manufactured by our parent company The Brakel Group) and also Rooflights supplied by our sister company Brakel Atmos.

As can be seen from the video, all the ventilators have operated and remain open and appear to still be in good working order and most importantly, they have allowed the smoke to escape from the mall to assist escape and help the fire brigade to tackle the blaze. This is particularly evident by the limited smoke damage in the mall directly below the smoke ventilators.
